Walter Maria de Silva was born in Lecco on Feb. 27, 1951 and started collaborate with the Volkswagen Group 17 years ago, as Head of SEAT Design. In 2002 he became Head of Design of Audi Group, which included over Audi also SEAT and Lamborghini. Its new design language with Audi has found full expression in the sixth generation of the Audi A6 and the Audi A5 Coupe. de Silva began his professional career at the Design Centre in FIAT turin in 1972 and in 1975 joined the law firm of R. Bonetto Milan. It was then head of the department of Industrial Design and Area Automotive Institute I.De.A. Turin from 1979 to 1986. After a brief stint working for “Trussardi Design Milan”, in 1986 he moved to Alfa Romeo, where he was Head of Design until 1998.
de Silva has created a new design philosophy Branded with the Alfa Romeo 156 (1997).
