Giraffe in Piazza Duomo: the Milan apocalyptic WWF – mentelocale.it

Two giraffes frolic undisturbed in Piazza Duomo. In the background, the carcass of a car and the cathedral of Milan blackened as a few decades ago. No human being in the neighborhood, but a huge sand dune that covers the entire surface of the square. Milan is desert, barren, uninhabited.

This is the world we promises the project Surreal City , launched by WWF Italy on the occasion of the Cop21 , the international climate conference held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December. Have a provocation , of course, the images created by the set designer and graphic designer Cynthia Mace , but do well to reflect on how the places that we love may become in the future if we humans do not learn how to better treat the planet. The finger is pointed mainly to emissions from fossil fuels.

In addition to Milan, the other Surreal City imagined by Mace are Rome , too ‘ it desertified, with elephants strolling in front of the Colosseum, Venice and Pisa , both submerged by the seas following the melting of the ice.
