It is not clear who will be the € 150 million that the government announced to put on national cyber security. According to its statement to the Sole 24 Ore will go to big industry. However, the startup also play a crucial role to push innovation. Indeed, they are essential in a sensitive area like this.

In Italy our ecosystem of startups security has also for some excellence. Inverse Path, startup of Trieste is focused on the analysis and strengthening of objects hardware dedicated to affordable security; Minded Security is an Italian excellence in expansion focused in research, analysis and support to the removal of application vulnerabilities. Those of Hacktive Security are Romans and dedicated to professional services related to the world of ICT security. Milan are instead those of Cys4. One of their assets is their relationship with companies of cyber security in Israel and the United States that allow them to have a more international outlook.

As explained Andrea Stroppa, young head of research Cys4 for “small” the only way is specialization and an “artisan” to security in a way that unites software products to consultancy. The key seems to be to work with foreign partners on research, and close to the companies for individual solutions. This also a way to differentiate themselves from the big but, in turn, are looking with interest at startup. The Russian giant Kaspersky, for example, has decided to open (last April) Security Startup Challenge accelerator to help new talents of security. However, the Italian startup then, for the moment, will only have to gravitate to large companies, to grasp the new funding stream, however, by its limited than the amount set aside from other countries
