Snapchat near Facebook: having six billion videos a day – The Republic

STILL NOT reached Facebook but is fast approaching. Snapchat, the application of the ghost that lets you send messages, pictures and videos that are deleted after a few seconds from May to now has tripled the number of videos viewed on the platform, reaching six billion a day. The news was revealed by sources cited by Financial Times and today the group has confirmed without adding comments. Having said that Facebook continues to lead the standings with 8 billion videos a day, twice as much as had announced last April.

Within this framework we must remember how the numbers of Facebook refer to traffic from the desktop and the mobile one, while those of snapchat only to mobile phones. In recent months, the videos are very grown up which has led analysts to talk of a possible growth of video advertising. Moreover, this type of advertising tends to bring more money into the coffers of the company than the one connected to a text or image.

Just last week, after the publication of the accounts, the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg said that the video would become “one of the main contents online in the coming years.” In addition to Facebook and YouTube snapchat also controls the online video industry: the group controlled by Google claims to have more than a billion unique users per month who generate billions of views every day.
