Apple pushes on organ donation, in memory of Jobs – The Republic

SARA ‘must be registered with the national organ donor registry to exercise the option through the Health app. Option initially available only in the US. So Apple intends to ” push ” on organ donation, “a serious problem ”, explains the CEO of Cupertino Tim Cook remembering that the ” problem hit even Steve Jobs – who died in 2011 – in 2009 when there was a long wait to proceed to liver transplantation. ” Then Cook volunteered to donate part of his liver, but Jobs refused, only to have the surgery in 2009.

The US government is promoting this type of initiatives that promote commercial registration and therefore easier for doctors find compatible donors in the United States. Specifically, the function offered by Apple is bound to update the app Health (launched in 2014) which will arrive with iOS 10, the next version of the Cupertino operating system available to developers, for all users will come next autumn. Apple’s initiative is in partnership with Donate Life. The giant California is not the only company to have embraced an initiative like this: Facebook has added a special option in 2012 that allows users of the social network to register as a donor.
