Haired age, comes the software that redefines the look – Giornale di Sicilia

ROME. Just a photo and then you choose: curly hair and clear, or long, brown, or even a date, past or future , and you can see what it’s face framed by curly hair or straight hair, blond or brunette, or younger or aged. This is what allows you to make the software developed in the United States, the University of Washington, and presented in Siggraph 2016, the world’s largest conference on computer graphics and interactive technologies.

the program, called Dreambit and that could be available within a year, crosses the data received as input (ie the photo and the related indications to the hair or to the years) and analyzes all similar photos available on the Internet until you process the image more similar to that of the face changed from new hairstyle, or by time.

Getting this result was made possible by combining into a single algorithm existing programs , based on facial recognition, 3D reconstruction and age progression.

one of èpiù immediate applications could involve the identikit processed by the police to reconstruct the appearance of a long-lost child or that of a fugitive .

“This is the first step in the ability to get the picture of the world where a person’s face vambia over time,” said the developer of the software, Ira Kemelmacher-Shlizerman.

Another application, he added, could relate to the cinema, with the ability to examine the transformation of the face of an actor. For example, if the software had been used in the preparation of the film of Bob Dylan’s “I’m Not There”, in 2007, it would have been possible to predict the appearance of Cate Blanchett by combining it with that of Bob Dylan.
