Metro, bus and tram public transport meneghino now comes into Google Transit.
After Turin, Florence and, for a year and half, Roma, Google Transit arrives in Milan.
The network traspoti of Milan has been integrated into Google Maps: users can easily know the times of trams, buses and metros.
The announcement was made by Mayor Giuliano Piasapia at the opening of the new headquarters of Google Milanese, located in the district of Porta Nuova, and described as the first step in a strategy that sees the company and the City collaborate on the development of ‘very interesting projects, from Google Transit, and we also work to enhance more and more about our cultural sites, especially in view of Expo’ .
Thanks to Transit information about timetables and public transport lines are included in Google Maps and can be used by users to plan their trips. In this way the times are calculated taking into account the estimated travel times of vehicles; an icon Public transport allows you to select this mode.
All of this was made possible thanks to the decision of the City of Milan to make data available on public transport in an open and accessible, thus adopting the policy of ‘ open data .
The project partnership also provides the ability to virtually explore some places of Milan, as the inner courtyards of the Castello Sforzesco, the Civic Arena, the park of the basilicas, the Rotonda della Besana and the gardens of Villa Lonati; the list is intended to grow in the coming weeks.
