CCC again against fingerprints – Computer Point

Rome – The CCC (Chaos Computer Club) takes advantage of the opportunity of the CCC (Chaos Communication Congress) to present a new method of violation of authentication technologies based on fingerprints, an economic and practical demonstrate once again the insecurity of biometric protections.

The CCC is in fact long been committed to demystify the supposed superiority of biometrics in the field of computer security, a myth that never gets old even in the era of fingerprint readers integrated in mobile phones coolest on the market.

The new attack, as always directed against a “powerful” of German and European policy is based on the use of a photograph freely available to the public: the hackers of the CCC have integrated with other photo shots taken from other angles, and eventually they “extract” a fingerprint of German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen with software VeriFinger.

Thus, experts of the CCC – has always been committed to issue warnings about the dangers of insecurity online – claim to be able to recreate a copy of a fingerprint able to fool the security systems to biometric reading.
