Closed the CEC-PAC, a failure by 19 million euro – Zeus News – Olympus Computer

The Agid unplugs the duplication of the PEC.

After just four years of service, is moving towards closing the CEC-PAC , commissioned by the then Minister Renato Brunetta in 2010.

The reaction of many could be summarized in the application “But what is the CEC-PAC?” , which is also the main reason for its suppression: few know what it is, much less use it.

CEC-PAC is an acronym which stands for certified electronic communication between Government and Citizen , in practice, an alternative to the PEC, but with limited use for communication with the Public Administration.

To say that the CEC-PAC has not been a success is an understatement: in front of more than 2 million boxes required, only 1.2 million have been activated and only 28% of these were actually used in these years.

The reason is obvious: the PEC can be used more widely and are generally less cumbersome with respect to the activation (for the CEC-PAC required a trip to the post office).

We understand then why the Agid (the Agency for the ‘ Digital Italy) has decided to close the service, which will be discontinued by degrees.

Since yesterday are no longer issued new boxes; from March 18, 2015 to July 17, 2015, the boxes will only work in active reception.

So, from July 18, will no longer work even receiving, but users can still access their email in order to view and save messages already received; the ability to access will be deleted September 18, 2015.

The log of the box may still be required by September 18, 2015 to March 17, 2018, as early as March 18, 2015 the holders of the box CEC-PAC may request a PEC box free for one year by sending an email to richiestapec@agid.gov.it .

The elimination of this duplication of the PEC, as well as reducing the confusion to the users, will enable the government to save more than 19 million euro.
