Qualcomm announces three new SoC and a modem 5G – Want …

Qualcomm has updated its range of processors in mobile with the announcement of three new models: Snapdragon 653, 626 427. All inherit the characteristics of their predecessors (Snapdragon 652, 625 and 425), as the number of cores and production technology, but the californian chipmaker has increased the frequency of the CPU and the modem. Qualcomm has also presented the first modem that is compatible with the networks 5G, already in development around the world.

The Snapdragon 653, as in the previous Snapdragon 652, integrates a CPU with four ARM Cortex-A72 and four ARM Cortex-A53, supported by the GPU Adreno 510, but Qualcomm has increased the frequency of the Cortex-A72 1.8 to 1.95 GHz. Also the addressable RAM goes from 4 to 8 GB, then the SoC will create the smartphone of medium-high with 6 GB of RAM. The modem X8 LTE has been replaced by the modem X9 LTE that supports a maximum speed in download/upload of 300/150 Mbps and improves the voice quality during the call Times.

The Snapdragon 626 is the "Pro" version of the Snapdragon 625, then the CPU is always consists of eight core ARM Cortex-A53, but the frequency is increased from 2 to 2.2 GHz. The Snapdragon 426 is finally an upgrade to the Snapdragon 425 with eight cores ARM Cortex-A53 1.4 GHz. Also in this SoC has been integrated in the modem X9 LTE, instead of the previous X6 LTE. The three processors support technology of quick charging Quick Charge 3.0 and configurations, dual camera with sensors up to 24 megapixels.

Together with the new SoC, Qualcomm has announced the modem X50, the first in the world compatible with future networks, 5G. The modem will initially support the spectrum of millimeter waves in the band of 28 GHz, allowing you to reach peak velocity equal to 5 Gbps. The modem X50 may be paired to a chip in the Snapdragon with modem Gigabit LTE (for example, X16 LTE) to offer dual connectivity. Products with modem X50 integrated will come on the market in the first half 2018.
