Ektra, the “cameraphone” from the air vintage shows in the running Kodak – Corriere della Sera

Just say Kodak for imagine photography, old-fashioned and machines that have made the art of “painting with light”. Put in the film, which survives in only a small production, the brand founded by George Eastman in 1888, is back in the consumer market thanks to smartphones. After the launch of the first model at Ces last year, and in December will come a new phone, the photo that bears the famous logo of red and yellow become the red and white: Ektra. The name will sound as heard by fans of photography and is not the case. What is the name of the famous 35 mm launched by Kodak in 1941, a machine that had all the rage despite the historical era, not exactly happy.

Sony Sensor

with a look vintage with shell in faux metal and details in imitation leather, Ektra in fact it brings only the logo of the Kodak on himself. Is produced in fact by Bullit, English house, already known for phones reinforced branded Cat (or Caterpillar, however you like to), and Land Rover. But we get this phone. The display is a 5 inch display with Full HD 1080p resolution, the processor, a Deca-core Helio X-20, accompanied by 3 Gb of Ram and 32 Gb of memory. To make all of us think of Android 6.0 Marshmallow but of course it is the camera compartment the tip of the diamond. Behind the lens, 26.5 mm with aperture of f/2, we find a Sony sensor, 21 Megapixels, the same that equips the Xperia Z3+. At the video level we have the 4K, while the front camera has a sensor of 3 Megapixels.

A “Cameraphone”

Ektra is in everything and for everything a new mid-range, which points to the image. The photo app on board allows us to set all of the classic modes of a camera. By turning a scroll wheel, the virtual, we can set the mode to manual, shutter-priority and aperture and adjust the exposure, sensitivity, shutter speed and white balance as you would on a mirrorless or a dslr. Seen that mount Android, on board we also find Snapseed, the app for editing Google, one of the best currently available on the market, while on the front of the video there is the ability to record movies as if they were taken from an old Super 8 camera.

Get to December

are Not clear the intentions of Bullit to this new product. The previous Kodak IM5 was launched keeping a low profile and actually not seen around. With this second Ektra, the british seem to do seriously. There is already a launch date: the sales will start from December to 500 euro in the United Kingdom and Europe while for the Us there is time. Bullit is waiting to see what will be the results before attempting the big leap to the States.
