16:19 – Enhance and preserve the forests and Italian world by reducing pollution and geological risk. And ‘the goal of the National Day of trees , promoted by the Ministry of Environment, which is celebrated on November 21. The theme chosen for the 2015 edition is “The tree father of the food: towards sustainable food” . Over the weekend 20 to 22 November, Legambiente has organized the Festival of the Tree and launched the hashtag # tree4climate to promote the fight against climate change.

The invitation Legambiente users of social networks is to “ tell a photo significance of trees in our lives : a tree to which we are bound, we have embraced or saved after killing”. The environmental organization has also created number of initiatives on the Italian territory , pointing especially to the involvement of primary schools.

For the occasion, the Ministries of Environment and of ‘ Education have organized the competition “The mast” , open to primary and secondary schools of first and second degree. The goal of the students will be to produce a documentary, an article or a report with drawings and photographs on shareholders “green” their city or region. The deadline for submission of materials is scheduled for June 30, 2016, while the award ceremony will be held on the occasion of the National Day of the trees in 2016.

“The trees are a natural resource against global warming , their presence ensures a safe and effective response to the damage caused by human activities . Protect the trees means protecting the future, “say the experts of Legambiente. The trees in the city, they add, are essential for absorb CO2 , to mitigate the air in the warmer months and defending buildings from cold winds in winter, with significant economic and energy benefits.
