If the goal of Apple Music is to become the true outsider of Spotify, to limit the service to devices made in Cupertino is a terrible own goal. If only for a matter of numbers, because the other side of the fence there is an operating system (Android) that runs on 1.4 billion devices in the world. It is clear, then, that in this sense Apple has a great need to look beyond their products. And that’s what he did.
Now, in fact, Apple’s Music app is also available in the Google Play Store, ready to be downloaded by owners of an Android. A major move, probably decisive for the future of the music service of Cupertino.

For now it is a beta version, and that is with some detail in less than the application running on the iPhone. But the service is the same, and also prices of season tickets (free trial for the first 3 months, and then two types of subscriptions: the classic one to 9.99 euro and the “family” at 14.99 euro, with which you can hook up to 6 accounts). Even on Android, Apple Music will be presented without a subscription “free” with advertisements, style Spotify to speak. And this is, probably, the real strength of the number one competitor. Gratuity. One area where Apple has chosen not to go.

A few weeks ago, Tim Cook unveiled the first data on the Apple Music: 15 million users. Of these, however, only 6.5 million have signed a subscription fee, while the remaining 8.5 million are still taking advantage of the three-month trial. Numbers distant from Spotify, which with 75 million users (more than 20 million with paid subscription) is the undisputed leader in the industry. The landing on Android Apple Music, however, can really change much, because the service of Cupertino is now available to 1.4 billion people in more worldwide. A good test.
