With a view to hyper-connected devices, operating systems as we know them today we are likely to end up in the attic. Will change the devices themselves, probably the physical memory is no longer necessary thanks to the cloud. Although the software will be on the “cloud”, and will be updated directly from the manufacturers. And there’s a very important decision, taken at this time, that goes in this direction. E ‘to Microsoft, that with the upcoming launch of Windows 10 has decided to shake up the world of OS.
During a conference held in Chicago a few days ago, those of Microsoft have indicated that Win 10 “will be the last version of Windows.” So it seems that that the end of an era, a funeral of the most popular operating system in the world. In fact the story is more complex, and even more fascinating.

First, it should be clear that Microsoft has no plans to close the sector relative to Windows. Indeed, in the will of the CEO Satya Nadella, there is a kind of revolution in approach. Windows 10, which will officially debut this summer in 190 countries and that will be located in 111 different languages, will be available as a free upgrade in the first year for all users with a PC equipped with Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. But since there will be a Windows 11, Microsoft’s intention is to provide updates more frequently than in the past. From the day of the launch of the new operating system (still top secret at the behest of the same Microsoft), users can download updates and new features once a month. While the most significant upgrade will be available a few times a year. And the move seems to be correct, at least in terms of safety, since a device to date is certainly more protected.

Win 10, therefore, will be the starting point. The upgrade will be numerous, because every news produced by Microsoft will be made available for download. And the intention is to create an ecosystem of devices: PC, Smartphone and Tablet. Just one license, or buy a PC with Windows pre-installed. The key concept that the CEO Nadella wants to get across is that of “Windows as a service”, and that is an operating system that is a service. A service which is evolving and will not need official events and new versions for updates.
