– In Italy the growing awareness for the collection . This is the most important fact that emerges from the statistics on waste disposal, spread by the Institute for the Protection and Environmental Research. From 2010 to 2013 was in fact an increase of 7 percentage points in the ratio of municipal waste and waste, going from 35.30 to 42.30%. Numbers that impress even more if you consider that it is rather decreasing the amount of garbage we produce.
In the four years covered by the research, in fact, tons of junk fell gradually from 32.4 million tons to 29.5. While maintaining the positive trend, however, the situation varies greatly from region to region. In Northern Italy, in fact, the last data on the relationship between municipal and differentiated touched 54.43%, while in the South it was stopped at a little over half, with 28,86%.
Interesting to note, however, that these statistics are not to tow the big cities, but rather the small towns. If in fact you consider the five major Italian cities ( Rome , Milan, Naples, Turin , Palermo), each of them has a separate collection rate below the respective area of belonging .
Naples and Palermo in the transition between 2012 and 2013 this figure has even reduced compared to municipal waste, interrupting the positive trend: the two City showed respectively 20.32 and 10.13%, compared to the previous 20.62 and 10.28. Virtuous example is instead the city of Milan: the last three years under review, in fact, the increase of the population is not followed by an increase of garbage produced, which is conversely dropped to 42 thousand tons. All while improving the sensitivity to the collection, which fell from 34.71 to 42.51%.
