Space, still a success for Vega, the rocket port in Italian … – The Messenger

And five: another success Italian space. Hoisted into orbit satellite Sentinel-2A, at 3:52 on Tuesday took off on time from the spaceport of Kourou (French Guyana), the fifth rocket launcher Vega designed and built to 70 percent in Italy, for the most part in that factory as early as future that is the Avio in Colleferro.
What then is always a pleasure to hear and listen to patriotic “Coooleferooo, near Rome” or “COLLEFERRO” recited during the live launch of the Anglophone or Francophone speaker of spaceports around the world or space agencies, beginning by the team of Kourou.

With the hope that the success of these missions and the portfolio of orders already swollen beautiful Vega, including projects for the development of new versions of the rocket, push Finmeccanica and the Government

to ensure that Avio and the establishment of Colleferro futuristic, envy of the world and rare Italic magnet of foreign brains, remain in Italy and Italian driving despite the appetites already declared by France, Germany and the United States.

This time the Carrier European Advanced Generation (Vega), as showed by Arianespace TV, brought in orbit Sentinel-2A, according to the family of six satellites of the environmental monitoring program European Copernicus.

With Vega and the Sentinel, in short, it will be easier and more effective to protect the environment and ensure the exploitation compatible with its survival.

Here’s the video of the launch with the countdown for many remains creepy even the thousandth mission.

With the back as early as four launches on time and perfect in just over three years, the launcher for small payloads developed by the European Space is able to carry a payload mass between 300 and 1,500 kg in low polar orbit reference to a share of 700 km. The Vega program, designed by the Italian Space since the nineties and funded in ESA 60% just by ASI, also participate in France, Holland, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain and Sweden. Most of the vector was made in Italy: the Italian Space Agency plays a dual role, firstly finance the program of ESA, and the other through the subsidiary ELV SpA allows the realization of the industrial system. The company, 70% owned by Avio and 30% by ASI, is in fact the Prime Contractor to ESA industrial development of the Vega. The project involved a number of Italian companies: the main industrial partner Avio, the contribution of Selex ES, Rheinmetaal Italy, Telespazio, CIRA, University of Rome and MBDA ,. At the Kourou Space Centre have worked as part of the Ground segment, also Vitrociset, Carlo Gavazzi Space (now Telematic Solution), Telespazio Siem, and also included subsidiaries, Europropulsion and Regulus, for the production of engine Solid fuel P-80 in the first three stage of the launcher.

It is the European satellite Sentinel-2A. Italy will contribute to the operational management of the program: the Space Center e-GEOS (ASI / Telespazio) of Matera will acquire the data of the mission Sentinel-2A, and will carry out the processing in Near Real Time products of the mission, as he had done for the first sentinel Sentinel-1A.

The satellite will provide a vision seen in the Earth’s environment, combining high resolution multispectral new capacity. The goal is to monitor changes in land cover and vegetation monitoring globally, offer information on water pollution, provide images of floods and volcanic eruptions helping to outline the areas affected.

Copernicus is a European Commission program which aims to provide Europe with a continuous, independent and reliable data and information on Earth observation. It provides a unified system through which data from space and ground sensors are sent to the facilities designed for the benefit of the citizen. These services fall into six major categories: monitoring of land, marine environment and atmosphere, emergency response, security and climate change.
