11:54 – A small domestic robot that helps families to cut energy waste and save over 30% on energy bills. It’s called Biro and is the result of a project that will lead to the homes of Italians an intelligent automaton can analyze the consumption habits of users and to identify the best solutions to cut household energy costs . And all in a “green” since Biro is equipped with photovoltaic panels on the shoulders.

How did – The idea is BiroRobot Scientist Abruzzo Marco Santarelli , an expert on network analysis and collaborator of Margherita Hack. It is a tall humanoid just 35 cm and provided with an internal card similar to that of mobile phones, which are counted on the previous consumption of the family. Thanks to the infrared “eye” for 30 days studying the data volume of the house.

A detailed analysis: from power and lights out at the frequency, from the analysis of absorption data energy of the appliances to the dispersion of heat. Eventually the family will have a comprehensive energy map of the house. To emphasize its vocation of robot “handyman”, Biro will also have the Google Maps service, with directions and Street View feature.

“Photography” energy – Marco Santarelli – that worked on the robot together with a team from the University of Chieti, the National Research Council and the Institute of Research and Development Network – explains: “The robot takes a picture energy of the apartment.
