Apple is still planning a major revamp of its music service, an effort that is led by Trent Reznor, front man of the band Nine Inch Nails, according to a report of the The New York Times .
Apple wants to renew the service of streaming music subscription inherited from Beats, the manufacturer of high-end headphones that Apple acquired last year to 3 billion dollars. The new streaming service from Apple could incorporate some features of the app Beats Music, including playlist curated by industry experts and an elegant user interface, according to the sources of the Times.
Since Apple closed its agreement for Beats in August, market observers have wondered what would be Apple’s plans for the music service streaming inherited. So far, Apple has done little, merely promote the music service to existing customers of iTunes and promoting Beats headphones in its Apple Store. And so far, iTunes and Beats were separate things, although some reports say that a merger could be there this year.
Although Apple has not spoken publicly about his plans on streaming music, renovation app much discussed was revealed in a report by the Financial Times at the end of last year, which said that already in 2015 the company plans to integrate the subscription music service obtained from the Beats iOS operating system runs from the iPhone and iPad. It was thought that the preload of the service in its devices Apple would gain an advantage in promoting their offerings from the competition, that Spotify and Rhapsody. A subscription music service would represent a new revenue stream and new customers in ‘Apple ecosystem.
Reznor, the creative director of Beats, mentioned the work he was doing at Apple last year in a’ interview with the magazine Billboard . “I am on the side of the music stream, and I think the streaming service right could solve everyone’s problems,” said Reznor Billboard referring to the controversy of some artists who consider music streaming a violation of their music rights. “I just think that there is still the right formula.”
Apple could soon reveal his plans for the future of Beats , according to a new relationship. The company plans to launch a new music streaming service for a fee that Apple is planning entirely, using “technology and music content of Beats”, according to reports from the site 9to5Mac . Apple not only will install by default the existing application Beats Music on the iPhone, but “deeply will integrate Beats” in the operating system Mobile iOS, iTunes Music Store and Apple TV.
The launch the new streaming service is planned for June, at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.
Apple has initially discussed a subscription plan for streaming music to $ 5 per month with record companies, but the service is instead offered for $ 7.99 per month, according to the 9to5Mac . The price makes Beats Music service cheaper than subscriptions from $ 9.99 per month offered by competing services like Spotify, Rdio, Rhapsody and Google, but is more expensive than Pandora, which costs $ 4.99 per month.
The article of 9to5Mac follows a similar report from the Financial Times of the end of last year, according to which Apple plans to integrate deeply subscription music service Beats obtained from the operating system iOS on the iPhone and iPad in early 2015. Apple could also use his fingerprint reader TouchID as an easy way to subscribe to the service, reads the Financial Times . The company has already allowed through TouchID mobile payments in stores and on some websites, as has enabled the in-app purchases. It should be stressed that force the installation of a service on a device helps to introduce the product to consumers, but does not guarantee success. Apple has integrated iTunes Radio in its iTunes music application, but the service has not been very successful. It ‘like Beats Music, only that users are forced to listen to radio, automatic, and can not directly choose what to listen to their music and create playlists, something not possible with Beats Music.
With the service preloaded on device Apple, the Cupertino company would have an advantage in promoting their offerings from the competition, including Spotify and Rhapsody. A subscription music service would represent a new revenue stream for Apple and other customers.
