Apple scrapping Android: old smartphones of other brands evaluated … – The Messenger

Now in Italian stores of Apple you can “scrap” smartphones from other manufacturers, from Android to Blackberry.

The decision, confirmed by a company spokesman, expands the existing program “reuse and recycle” in the store and aims to encourage more users to get devices “dated” to buy the latest generation iPhone . The program works like this: a customer brings their smartphone – now not necessarily an iPhone, but also other brands’ devices – at an Apple store and get an immediate estimate of the value of the device.

This credit can be used immediately as a discount on the purchase of a new iPhone or iPad. Also in the store you can choose to “connect” the new device, choose the plan that best suits your needs. Customers are also helped with the transfer contacts from one device to another, with the setting of e-mail and by downloading applications. “In the event that the smartphone was not judged suitable to get a credit,” Apple will ensure that “it is recycled in a responsible manner for the customer.”

Apple launched the program ‘and recycled for reuse iPhone in the store in mid 2013. In the last two years has extended this ability even outside of the US (from June in Italy) and the iPad. Making available the “scrapping” even phones from other manufacturers, Cupertino implements a very aggressive strategy to push sales of phones in his store.
