Here all the details in order to observe the phenomenon in security, in every city of our country
The solar eclipse of March 20, 2015, also known as the equinox eclipse is an astronomical event that will take place on the said day from 7:40 UTC to 11:50 UTC , with the maximum at around 9:46 UTC. This is the ninth total eclipse of the twenty first century and the eleventh overall passage of the shadow of the Moon on the Earth (in this century).
Etymology – The word “eclipse” comes from greek ἔκ (ek), preposition meaning “from” (bike place), and λείπειν (leipein), which means “get away”, “hide”, “become invisible”.
ECLIPSE OF THE SUN – The phenomenon of the solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is passing through a node in conjunction (new moon); the moon casts a shadow on the Earth’s surface, thus giving rise to the eclipse of the sun itself.
– During a solar eclipse the Moon completely covers the Sun (total eclipse) or partially ( partial eclipse).
– This, however, occurs only under special conditions because the Sun is 400 times farther from Earth than it is the Moon, and is 400 times larger than the Moon.
– For this reason, despite the Sun has much larger than the Moon, its distance from the Earth causes the shadow produced by the Moon can reach and obscuring the solar disk, even if it happens to time short and only in limited areas of the earth’s surface.
– The extent of the phenomenon also depends on the greater or lesser distance between Earth and the Moon, and also with respect to the sun.
– If the Moon is in the position of maximum proximity to the Earth (perigee) and at the same time the Earth is at its greatest distance from the Sun (aphelion), the shadow of the Moon will be full size, while the solar disk appears in its smaller (apparent size as it dates from a distance); in these conditions there will be a total eclipse, which affects the restricted areas of the earth surface. In the surrounding areas, where it projects the disk shadow, you will have a partial eclipse.
– In the opposite situation (in apogee Moon and Earth at perihelion), the shadow produced by the Moon will be smaller and the extent of the apparent disk of the Sun greater; in this case the Earth’s surface will project the cone of the penumbra, while the shadow cone does not touch the surface of the Earth; the solar eclipse will be annular.
-The duration of the total eclipse is a maximum of 7 minutes and a half, while the annular eclipse of about 12.
OBSERVATIONS IN ITALY – In Italy, the sun will be darkened from 67% to 39%, depending on the latitude of observation.

HOW TO OBSERVE ECLIPSE IN SAFETY – Although the solar eclipse is often represented in the films showing a black disk (the Moon) that approaches the Sun, only to cover it, in fact you do not see any black disk: the part of the Sun occulted by the Moon appears blue like the rest of the sky due to light scattered by the atmosphere. Moreover, even this effect is difficult to observe with the naked eye, because the sunlight dazzles almost immediately the viewer directly (without insisting watching Filters may also permanent damage to the eye).
– To observe the solar eclipse you must wear special glasses created for eclipses or binoculars covered with a special solar filter (eg a sheet of Mylar or AstroSolar or metallized glass) or use a solar telescope; a mask welding can be used, but the image quality is not good, because of the thickness of the glass (double reflection). Without adequate protection, watch a solar eclipse can cause blindness: the sunglasses are not suitable in this case.
– As a result a person unaware of the arrival of astronomical phenomenon does not realize that is occurring a total solar eclipse, until it enters the phase of totality, that is when the sky in a few seconds turns dark as night, because sunlight no longer reaches the atmosphere. Only then also the disk of the moon turns black and can be observed.
– The total solar eclipse is the only time when you can observe the Earth’s surface without using the solar corona the coronagraph, solar corona which appears as a bright halo that surrounds the black disk of the Moon. Ordinarily fact, the brightness of the crown is covered by the much more intense, the solar disk. Only in space, in the absence of atmosphere, it is possible to completely shield the latter and observe the crown without having to wait for an eclipse.
