Technology and creativity: Italy pleases Tim Cook
Apple’s CEO met at Palazzo Chigi, the prime minister Renzi, but also five representatives of app developers Italian. That’s what they do and how they experienced a special day

“Wow, fabulous.” Tim Cook did not save the exclamations, listening intently, his questions are timely. The CEO of Apple is at Palazzo Chigi to meet with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and the champions of the app Italian, five young people representing almost 100,000 who have built a company from an idea and an iPhone. Some are just born, others are already millions of users around the world.
“I never thought to speak with Tim Cook,” says Alessandro Petazzi, one of four founders of Musement. At Palazzo Chigi it was also the guys Qurami (an app to manage queues), Ganiza (to organize nights out), Quokky (for storing files), but only Petazzi is in the picture that the CEO of Apple posted on Twitter.
Launched just before Christmas, Musement is an interactive and customizable in hundreds of cities around the world, made with the advice of those who live there. In addition to monuments and places to visit, it shows concerts and performances and the opportunity to book them directly from the app. “Cook was curious to know how it works and what kind of needs solve,” says Petazzi.
“It was not a formal meeting only, each presented his app. All we got there after a long selection from Apple: this was already a certificate of merit to be proud of. ” Musement currently employs fifty people, is headquartered in Milan and is about to open offices in Barcelona, then in Germany and France. What will change with the opening of the development center in Naples iOS? “It’s very good news, at this time perhaps only in the area of programmers for app labor demand exceeds supply. “In addition to training, it is vital feedback from Apple,” says Stefano Portu, founder and CEO of DoveConviene, who was yesterday at Palazzo Chigi. “We need to deal with the company that invented the app market, is an opportunity for growth in the international market.” DoveConviene is well underway: launched in 2011, now has over 15 million users, less than half in Italy, the rest in Spain, United States, Brazil, Mexico and Indonesia. It has over one hundred employees, which will double in the next 15 months. “We have reached 5 million downloads, we are the second most used app Italian.” DoveConviene exhibition discounts and special divided by categories and geo: not only business, in short, but those closest. ‘For the stores – says Portu – it costs a lot to print and distribute leaflets, but the return is very low: so we collect information and provide for those who really care. In five years, the e-commerce will be worth 15 percent of the market, but the rest is still the preserve of the shops: DoveConviene brings digital to traditional retail. It does not destroy the current system, but makes it more intelligent. “Cook it seemed interested in our app,” says Portu, “has informed on the business model and prospects in the US.”
And if by now DoveConviene remains between Sardinia, Bologna and Milan, the goal is global: “Ours is a simple idea, but we like to think that I can improve, albeit slightly, the lives of many people. ”
