BlaBlaCar and Axa also collaborate in Italy to ensure car-sharing
An additional coverage than the RCA compulsory for all cars is tailored to fit the needs of travelers ride sharing
Start of a partnership between BlaBlaCar, the largest community for car trips shared, and the French insurance group Axa offer users a platform of Italian additional insurance coverage than the RCA compulsory for all cars and tailored to fit the needs of travelers in sharing laughs, that benefit will not incur any cost.
This was announced by the two groups in a joint statement. The partnership between BlaBlaCar and Axa extends to Italy after the launch in France, Britain and Spain, and is a pioneering initiative in the framework of ride sharing. “The partnership between BlaBlaCar and Axa -says Andrea Saviane, Country Manager Italy of BlaBlaCar- is ambitious for both parties because of its innovative nature as well.” The BlaBlaCar community, which now has over 20 million people, he adds, “is based on trust, and the ability to benefit from additional insurance helps to make travel even more serene shared for both drivers and passengers. For us it is the first big step towards a wider range of services that we want to offer our users soon, in Italy and around the world. ”
The cover provided by Axa for the Italian community of BlaBlaCar includes Roadside Assistance, which provides roadside assistance if the vehicle is able to operate independently; accommodation costs for the driver and passengers or, alternatively, on his return home in Italy or the continuation of the journey with alternative solutions in case the vehicle has been immobilized and the point of care is closed or labor can not be executed within 3 hours. It also covers the shipment to the passenger personal items forgotten on board the vehicle of the driver. It also foresees the legal protection of the driver in relation to road accidents.
The insurance taken out will be active for all the trips you participate in at least one passenger and have been organized with the online booking system, which provides that the fee which is paid by the passenger card credit, prepaid or PayPal. The system is now active for journeys which start and finish are in Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia, Tuscany and Sardinia; will then be gradually extended to all the country during 2016. “The partnership with BlaBlaCar -says Gianluca Zanini, Head of Partnership and Innovation leader AXA has a strategic value for Axa as it confirms our position as an innovative insurance company, capable of responding to the needs that emerge with the emergence of the sharing economy. ”
