The average temperature of the oceans and mainland registered in July, in particular, was the highest since there is this kind of survey, ie since 1880, according to data from NOAA and dell’Ncdc (the National Center for Environmental Information).
Regarding in particular the mainland alone, the global average temperature in July was 0.96 degrees higher than the average of the twentieth century: it is the sixth month of July warmest on record. The NOAA also stressed that the average extent of Arctic glaciers in July was 9.5% in less than the average of the period between 1981 and 2010. As for the Antarctic, however, the decrease was 3.8%.
So, if the 2014 as a whole was was the warmest year since 1891 according to the Japanese weather agency, now comes the July hotter over the last 135 years.
