The Birth of Alphabet is not news for fans only corporate law. The new company, which will include Google and all the abbreviations minor revolving around Big G was born for a very simple reason: the ambition of its creators, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, too big even for the giant par excellence.
In a commentary fits perfectly, Mic Wright writes in The Next Web that the meaning commonly assumed that Google’s “search”. But that meant he could no longer hold all the world of projects that have nothing (or almost) to do with search engines.
1) Because a larger company?
Google will Alphabet allowing the two founders not to deal too much: driving Big G there will be a new CEO, Sundar Pichai, a Mountain View from 2004, where he worked on projects for Chrome, Drive, Android, Maps and Gmail. A man of confidence that will allow Brin and Page to focus calmly on what really interests him: always invent and develop new projects.
2) Why call Alphabet?
Nomen omen: the name of the new company structure predicts and explains the intent that we behind. From the alpha omega, or a to z, whatever you want, nothing is all as the alphabet.
3) Why divide the different sectors in which Google?
The choice to insulate Google from the other activities of Alphabet is explained with the need for easier management, freeing the core business of Mountain View from all the appendages that have little or nothing to do with it. In addition, this division will enable Alphabet to divide even the financial results of its activities, to have an insight into the most transparent as each project evolves.
4) What changes within individual codes under Alphabet?
A more independence from Google, as very cumbersome, will allow develop more free of the other brand. On the one hand protection from Big G flop (the Google Glass, for now, continue to be a blank signed Mountain View), on the other it allows acronyms children to grow independently.
5) Brin and Page will be freer, but what for?
The main projects are once again the Google Glass (or what they will become in the future), but it is time that you work at Google Car, payment systems, the challenge to telephone operators and new operating systems. Then there is the expansion of internet access to 4 billion people not yet connected, so Google is considering a transmission system via balloons.
