the MENLO PARK – Debut not just lucky for the Marketplace, the service for the exchange of objects between friends that Facebook has now turned into a part of the social network dedicated to the sale and purchase of products. Launched at the beginning of the week, in the space of a few hours has forced the company to Mark Zuckerberg’s public apology. They were selling were in fact finished goods and services prohibited: weapons and illegal drugs, sexual services, dogs and puppies of the porcupine.
A technical problem, explained a manager of the company, prevented the system of revision of Facebook to identify the post that violated the business policies and standards of the community.
“We are working to resolve the problem and we will check our systems to make sure that we are identifying and removing properly the violations, before giving to a greater number of people access to the marketplace,” said Mary Ku, director of product management. “We apologize for this problem.”
the Marketplace is at the moment available in the Usa, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, on the app for iPhone and Android. In the next few months, the option will be extended to other Countries and also to the desktop version of Facebook.
