If it was release in 2012, probably we’d be talking about a different market. the Switch is what Wii U should have been but that technology a few years ago, probably not allowed.
Between the screen and Switch to the GamePad, the differences are few: both allow you to play with your TV off; the shape is similar and the idea of being able to play the game using the second screen (using a Wiimote) is another common denominator. But with Wii U there were technical compromises important: the data were managed by the console, for which it was unthinkable to use the GamePad alone several meters away. It was however an experience from the living room.
Switch evolves that concept and takes it to another level. Thus becomes a portable console and home console. All this is possible because, pending further information from the part of Nintendo, the bulk of the hardware should be on the inside of the tablet/screen. The base that you see in the trailer preview is probably used to reload the screen and at the same time offer a bit of additional power. The games, however, will be predominantly managed from the tablet, otherwise it would not be possible to play the same way even outside the house.

it Is everything that Wii U is not: just the one screen to play the game alone or with friends; the two Joy-With, that is, the two side ends, are used for the local multiplayer. the screen becomes a game table, an extension of the experience home.
there Remain, however, several doubts, especially retail, on the Switch. With this console, Nintendo will be able to riattirare the audience the Wii, which now has shifted to the smartphone? It will be very difficult. Smartphones as gaming systems work because we carry with us every day, regardless of games; we use them to make calls, to send e-mails and messages. And they have many games to choose from for quick matches.
The strategy to use smartphone applications such as Super Mario Run to push the users towards the console Nintendo, then, is far from obvious: why 2-3 euro mobile game should lead a consumer to invest 300 € on a home console? The effect is not immediate, in fact.
The idea might work for those console users that have seen in the Wii U something unattractive: I don’t need the cloud or the internet when you can bring the entire console to play the same way. At the moment, in short, the Switch seems to catch on to the gamers, “hardcore” rather than casual users; those that have skipped the Wii U because it lacked a central idea, adequately supported, and the catalogue was the examination of alternatives to the Nintendo games (read: lacked the various FIFA, Call of Duty, Destiny, etc.).
we must Not forget the other side of the Switch and, in fact, inherits also the commercial position of the 3DS, the console that, unlike the Wii U, has had a significant response on the part of consumers (i.e. more than 58 million units shipped). Not distinguish themselves by more games for the handheld console (the Ace Attorney, Professor Layton, etc.) and for the home console: the new catalogue will be unified. the those Who want to use a Nintendo console as a laptop can still do it: you will always Switch. In this sense, the Switch is probably a hardware upgrade is of major importance for the public on the 3DS and the Wii U, that could already play in high definition.

Switch will be launched on the market in march 2017, in a moment business is very delicate. Sony are winning the sales of this generation: PS4 has exceeded 43 million units shipped, while Microsoft takes refuge behind the 47 million users of Xbox Live active each month (and this involves also the Xbox 360). Sony has also marketed a few days, the viewer of virtual reality PlayStation VR and is preparing to enter the world of 4K with the PS4 Pro. Microsoft is developing the Xbox Scorpio and it, too, will support 4K and virtual reality (probably Oculus Rift).
Switch, it will be in the middle of two heavyweights that focuses on multimedia. We don’t know the specific software of the Switch; we don’t know if it will support certain applications, such as Netflix or YouTube, and if it will be a tablet from entertainment generic. The console supports a processor Nvidia Tegra, a mobile chip, not further specified, which suggests that at the level of software we could find something more complex and intuitive than the Wii U, but we’ll see.
