Google, the web’s tailor-made smartphone – LOOP.it

ROME – Google is preparing a radical change in its core business: the research on the web. The online engine will index separately the pages mobile-friendly – optimized to be seen on the small screen of a smartphone – from the traditional ones, suitable for use by the computer. The anticipated in recent days, Gary Illyes, analyst at Google, in a press conference, noting that the index for the mobile devices will be the “primary”, that is, the search engine will catch the results. The news, confirmed Illyes to the website Search Engine Land, will become effective in a matter of “months”.

The decision will have a big impact on the web sites, and may point the way to other search engines: developers, companies and online publishers will have to make sure that their content is the most compatible for the mobile experience to be properly indexed by Google.

That Big G is focusing on the web “mobile” is not a mystery. This direction involves both the launch of the “Amp”, the “mobile Pages to accelerate” to load faster articles optimized for phones and tablets, as well as certain updates to the search algorithm that you proposed right to penalise sites without an ad hoc version for mobile devices.
