It comes from Sicily car that uses the ‘energy of the sun to move: it is called Archimede Solar Car 1.0 and is a prototype created by Onlus , Sicilian companies specialized in sustainable mobility and some university students.
The electric car made up of photovoltaic panels has been made to ‘ University of Catania with the simple (but effective) aims to raise public awareness of ecological mobility which is beneficial in all respects: to date, the only flaw of electric cars, is the low battery because the batteries are not capacious enough to be able to make such a trip of 200-300 kilometers.
With this car, powered by solar energy in practice, the range is almost unlimited, while keeping the size of a compact car (in fact, is just four and a half meters long, and thus ensures good efficiency in urban areas), reaching a maximum speed of 75 kilometers per hour.
it is not the first time that the students create some interesting prototypes: in fact a few months ago, some students of the polytechnic Milan have created an electric car which accelerated from 0 to 100 in 1.9 seconds, setting a new world record.
The operation of photovoltaic panels is very difficult to explain, however, can be synthesized avoiding the details: i concerned panels are composed of very small silicon photovoltaic cells that convert solar energy into electrical energy that hits the panel via the photovoltaic effect resulting in a power generator.
Archimedes it is a prototype race, but in the future, we will definitely use this car as the basis for multiple road versions that will make the movement of silent and healthy environment for people and citizens.
