Facebook launches “Hello” on Android: you can see the … – The Messenger

On the day when Google launches as a mobile virtual network operator, Facebook strengthens its presence in telephony, although for alternative ways.

After enabling the internet calls on Messenger and WahstApp, the social network launches Hello, project that also speaks a little Italian as the product manager is the Veronese Andrea Vaccari.

The application – for Android – will give information about the caller, even if the number is not saved in the phonebook. Fruit of the Creative Labs Facebook and by the team of Messenger, Hello is for now only available for Android devices, and in three markets (the US, Nigeria and Brazil). The new goal is to replace the traditional ‘dialer’ for phone calls, that is, the default system installed in phones that allows you to identify a number that calls or to make a phone call.

Hello connects to Facebook so that the user can see the information of the caller, even if it is a contact in their address book, its generality, but also specific information such as birthday or work. Also from the same application you can block unwanted contact and you will research of people and places. Of course you can also call and send messages for free using Messenger.

The information traveling on Hello, emphasizes Vaccari, are those that a user has already chosen to share on Facebook. The move allows the social network of Mark Zuckerberg to strengthen its presence in the field of telephone calls. Messenger, as announced yesterday during the quarter, representing 10% of the global VoIP calls.
