Technology Notes 7, a bad story to the boundaries of Murphy’s law – Il Sole 24 Ore

Only and exclusively the fault of the batteries. The smartphone Notes 7 to the ground only because of the shortcomings of lithium ion cells.

this Is the almost unbelievable explanation provided by Samsung after months of investigation. An explanation that belies the rumors of the past few days that showed how the root cause of a structural defect: a little space for the battery is compressed in a frame narrow.

Nothing of all this. According to Samsung it is the fault of the batteries. And it seems the triumph of Murphy’s law.

in early September, the Chaebol Korean called because of some of the phenomena of self-combustion, the newly launched phablet that was equipped with batteries produced by the sister company Samsung Sdi and then reinmesse on the market a modified version with batteries manufactured by Amperex.

meanwhile, in a “hot autumn” Samsung was in the crosshairs of the media and it almost seemed that every fire in America was attributable to a Notes 7.

The device modified were identified for the green icon indicating the battery charge (Google granted this modification to the Android operating system exceptionally).

Replace the batteries, the creature of the Samsung was ready to give battle to the new models of competitors.

But the second batch was critical, so much so that, at the beginning of October for a "Green Icon" caught fire aboard a jet of the South West.

For the Notes 7, the best smartphone ever produced, was the end. The Korean giant, the world’s first producer of smartphones, has made a second call, and stopped permanently the production in the factory in vietnam.

The bill is salty: 2.5 million pieces to be disposed of as the goods dangerous, a double reminder of the complex and compounded by the fact that the fans of the new device would not separsene, at least 5 billion dollars gone up in smoke, and a reputation is all to be rebuild also because of the shame of the prohibition of boarding of airliners and cruise ships with a Notes 7 in his pocket.

The most serious financial disaster in the history of technology it is thus concluded with an explanation disturbing that casts a shadow on the li-ion batteries since two manufacturers of the batteries have gone wrong.
