The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is the first smartphone compatible with the Tango, the technology of augmented reality, developed by Google, but the ASUS ZenFone AR, can boast of other primates. The device, announced by the taiwanese manufacturer at CES 2017 Las Vegas, is in fact the first smartphone, the Tango also supports Daydream, the platform for the virtual reality of Google. The smartphone is also the first in the world with 8 GB RAM.
ASUS ZenFone AR: augmented reality and virtual
The ZenFone AR has an aluminum chassis, a screen Super AMOLED 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) and integrates a quad core Snapdragon 821 at 2.35 GHz, flanked by 6 or 8 GB of RAM LPDDR4. The minimum requirements for the Daydream are thus satisfied to the full, while the compatibility of Tango has been obtained with the system TriCam. On the back of the smartphone there are three cameras, a traditional Sony sensor IMX318 a 23-megapixel camera, a motion tracking and depth sensing with a projector IR. Thanks to the software of computer vision it is possible to insert 3D objects in the real world. On the Google Play store there are around 30 apps, but many more will come in the next few months.

The display 5.7-inch screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 4, and can be used even with gloves on. The technology Tru2life offers high contrast and maximum readability on the outside, while the filter for Eye Care reduces the blue light to not strain your eyes. In addition to the Snapdragon processor 821 and 6/8 GB of RAM, the ZenFone AR integrates 32/64/128/256 GB flash memory UFS 2.0, expandable with microSD cards up to 2 TB, and a front-facing camera 8 megapixel with f/2.0 aperture and wide-angle lens (85 degrees). The rear camera 23 megapixel camera integrates a lens with six lenses and f/2.0 aperture. Other features include the electronic stabilization and optical, the TriTech Focus System (of phase detection, laser and continuous), RAW support and HDR, different shooting modes (manual, panorama, time lapse, slow motion) and dual-LED flash.
The connectivity is guaranteed by the modules wi-fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, and LTE Cat. 12/13 (600/75 Mbps) with dual SIM support. There are also the fingerprint reader, the door the USB Type-C, the audio jack 3,5 mm and of a variety of sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, proximity, ambient light, Hall effect, RGB, IR, and barometer). There is only one speaker, but the audio is of high quality Hi-Fi (192kHz/24bit). The battery 3,300 mAh battery supports fast charging (60% in 39 minutes). The operating system is Android 7.0 Nougat with interface ASUS ZenUI 3.0.
Availability and pricing
ASUS has announced the ZenFone AR will be available in the second quarter of 2017. The manufacturer has not revealed the exact date, nor the price of sale, which assumes rather high, considering the build quality and components used.
