Facebook wants to be even more “essential” to its users, almost two billion in the world. The social network, reports the Wall Street Journal, is working on a tool that allows users to retrieve forgotten passwords of any other sites. A way to root even more social networks in the digital lives of people, and to substitute for e-mail and cell phones to retrieve locked accounts on the web.
this Is a system that allows you to confirm your identity through Facebook, to reset the password of access to other web sites. The technology in question – referred to as the “recovery delegate account” – offers users a new way to verify your identity and regain access to online services are password protected. The system, explains to the Wsj Brad Hill, the engineer of Facebook, will first work with web sites, but may be extended also to applications. The social network has shared the specifications with all the sites that you will want to test the technology and is working with the GitHub – website for developers – to test it.
Today, many websites ask users a email address or cell phone number through which to retrieve a forgotten password, or reset it. However, there have been cases in which these systems were bypassed by hackers.
Facebook, which already gives you the possibility to register on other sites with your social accounts, now wants to leverage its platform to help users to reset their password and to recover it in case of forgetfulness.
