Imagine wipe out the contaminants with a brush stroke: now you can and the technology used is called Airlite , a product invented in Bolzano from Advanced Materials .
Airlite act naturally through the photocatalysis , perfected and grafted on a paint. This process – as explained Antonio Cianci , Kauffman Fellow and co-founder of the company – harnesses the power of sunlight to release oxidizing molecules that attack the pollutants transforming them into harmless minerals and neutralizing them.
In this way, Airlite can kill up to 88.8% of the pollutants present in the air.
For example, painting the exterior of a 7-storey building (1000 square meters) with Airlite, within 12 hours it would be removed pollution from over 70 Euro 6 diesel cars . Taking into account that we are in the province of Milan, according to data of the 2011 census, about 280,000 buildings, and that there are about 1.8 million vehicles, considering a yield of 50%, if only 20% of the buildings in the Province would use this technology, it would be possible to eliminate every day exhaust fumes of all cars present.
This technology is also applicable in offices and homes , which reduces the pollution at the same, effective, way. In this context, it acts as a natural purifier: technology anti pollution , anti-mold and anti bacterial , deodorant in a natural way, which can reduce the temperature inside buildings saving on air conditioning in summer and, finally, completely free of poisons as inorganic and therefore devoid of heavy metals.
Airlite recently presented with the association Nursery and Retake Milan a project called Forest Building , just to raise awareness of how the city can do in order to make the city more livable for its citizens.
