This is also why Apple just bought Coherent Navigation, a company specializing in High Integrity GPS (iGPS already dubbed a system that mixes two different satellite signals: those mid-earth and low-earth. The result is an almost absolute location accuracy and a higher signal quality. Precisely this was one of the weaknesses of “Maps”, accused in the weeks after its debut provide geolocalizzazioni and maps incorrect.

Apple, according to rumors coming from sources close to the company, have already hired some employees of Coherent. Among these is the CEO Paul Lego, one that Apple had already worked in the past. Even the two Co- founders of iGPS, William Bencze and Brett Ledvina, have already moved in the offices of Cupertino. And the website of Coherent no longer be reached for a few days (with a redirect pointing to Apple).
