“Facebook has created 70 000 jobs”: how (and whether) a social … – The Messenger

One billion and 400 thousand people use Facebook every month. Daily access to the social network of Menlo Park almost 900 million people. Only in Italy 20 million users (about a third of the population) are connected to the platform every day. Among them, 17 million do from a smartphone or a tablet.

As the Internet and social networks have changed the habits of the community, is known to all. But since the revolution of “social networks” has affected the economy was still unclear. The use of social networks and Facebook in particular (the platform founded by Zuckerberg is most used), completely permeates business realities, changing the communication and, consequently, also the “range”. Why Facebook has promoted research, organized by Deloitte, the economic impact that the social network has had in our country. A research that was presented yesterday at the Ministry of Economic Development, believes that Facebook in Italy have an economic impact of € 6 billion and has helped to create 70 000 jobs.

The country manager Facebook Italy, Luca Colombo, after presenting the research, explained that the Italian data are in line with the major countries. Well, for once we are not back. Too bad that it is nevertheless of statistics that do not console those who have lost their jobs “traditional”, that there are many more.

The debate, which took part Capezzone (Chairman Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies ), Fabio Lalli (Founder and CEO IQUII), Alessandro Micheli (President Confcommercio Young), Francesco Sacco (Professor SDA Bocconi) and Marco Simoni, (Economic Advisor of the Prime Minister) and Mattia Fiorin (IOC Fiorin of furniture), it is focused on the need by companies to “go down into the arena” of the web, which is an incredible opportunity for development and growth.

A vision with which also agrees Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi: “The research data confirm the validity of the Mise in favor of the processes of internationalization and innovation of SMEs, backbone of the entire country system. The data emerging from the conference confirmed that the use of social media helps improve productivity and create more jobs. The more than 10,000 new jobs in SMEs are an essential element of absolute importance for a country with Italy where youth unemployment is a factor of great concern. “

Of course, one wonders, in a dark period for the young like the one that our country is going through, if indeed the increase in the use of the Web and social networks can help solve a problem like unemployment. The adviser to the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Marco Simoni, believes so: “If there connettessimo more Internet there would be more jobs,” he stressed, “If in Italy you connettessero the network the same number of people connecting in France, we would have 70 000 jobs more. But beware: some tools work only in the presence of an economic system up. “

In other words: navigate more is of little, if the boat is taking in water.
