Facebook will soon launch a new app that will allow you to communicate anonymously, according to the New York Times.

Facebook has to time tried to be the place where, above all, people can be themselves. Soon, Facebook will allow to be themselves, but with a different name. According to reports from a report in the New York Times, in fact, the company’s Mark Zuckerberg is working on a stand-alone mobile application that will allow users to interact with other people without having to use their real names.

The application, which should be released in the coming weeks, would reveal a different and well-established approach of Facebook to the identity of users. Facebook has always promoted the use of social networks as a way to put your online identity, and to increase the connections you have with family and friends, both online and offline.

“E ‘part what made it special Facebook in the first place, “Chris Cox, chief product officer of Facebook, said in a recent post in which he discussed the issues on the management of user identities on the social network. “By differentiating the service from the rest of the Internet where pseudonymity, anonymity, and often random names have become a ‘social norm’.”

And it is in respect of the identity of users will continue to operate the main site Facebook, which has more than one billion accounts, while the new application will be evidence that the company is willing to explore alternatives.

The project is led by Josh Miller, a product manager at Facebook who joined the company when it was acquired Branch, the start-up that is focused on products that have favored the small group discussions online. Mr. Miller and the rest of his team have been working on the new product in its various forms since last year, according to the NYT.

The purpose for which is the new app is, according to the online journal, that to allow Facebook users to use multiple aliases to openly discuss the topics being discussed on the Internet; topics of discussion that a person may not want to associate with your real name.

A Facebook spokesman said the company does not comment on rumors or speculation, so all that remains is to wait for the launch of the new app, expected in the coming weeks.
