Air iPad 2, the new era: Thursday presentation – The Messenger

After the double Watch the debut of the iPhone and it’s time to iPad. The warm autumn Apple never stops with Tim Cook who is preparing the second keynote in just one month. At the center of the event that the new tablets as reported by Recode, US site always well informed about the moves of Apple, should be present Thursday, October 16.

This time, however, seem excluded sequins and shots greenhouse to make room for a more sober tone and an audience less fashion. Nothing U2 and no crossing with the past as was the case with the return to Flip Center, smartphone and last stage of the first Macintosh in 1984, because it plays home to the Town Hall in Cupertino together to unveil the new iPad on the body heavy, ie iMac and OS X Yosemite, new version of the desktop operating system.

Anticipation and curiosity are intertwined to find out what are the improvements Air iPad 2, the tablet for excellence that aims to conquer new markets and strengthen the leadership in North America and Western Europe. The first alarms are already tripped, with the decline in sales of 9% in the last two quarterly in comparison to 2013 and the growth estimates for the current year by half, reduced from 12.1% to 6.5% compared to twelve months ago (source: IDC).

THE DESIGN

True to the philosophy of keeping the design for at least two generations, Apple iPad will not revolutionize the increasing specification of a base already very good. Certainly it is the arrival of the Touch ID, fingerprint reader useful for unlocking the device and to speed up access and purchases on iTunes and the App Store, and that of the A8 chip already built into the iPhone. Probably a touch up to the camera and rear anti-glare screen to provide better visibility in outdoor environments. Another certainty is then coloring in gold demand from fans who have enjoyed the experiment on the iPhone. Tweaks that will be shared almost entirely with the iPad Mini, whose imminent arrival will cut the price of the tablet mignon with the first model that will fall under $ 200.

We must instead prolong the wait for ‘ iPad Pro, most common denomination of the XL version with 12.9-inch screen intended for professionals and the academic world, where the Apple tablet is being increasingly used. Will not arrive until next spring, unlike the new Air and Mini that will be immediately available at the usual price, not really popular.

VERSIONS

The countdown is now running out for OS X Yosemite, revamped version of the operating system for the Mac which will be released in mid-month, and that the beta stage has gained great acceptance among developers and users. Pre-installed on new desktop devices and available as a free upgrade on older (compatible ones), has revolutionized the graphic in the sign of minimalism and act in harmony with iOS thanks to features such as 8 Continuity and Handoff (early activity on the iPhone and continue on Mac or vice versa), shared between the two environments to further tighten ties and uses of the various tools Apple.

In addition to software, the launching pad also new versions of many programs such as iMovie and Final Cut Pro, Apple in the pot, there are also new hardware with a shotgun Mac and iMac, on which, however, the details absent. More powerful processor and Retina display with a powerful resolution 5K changes seem more likely than the former, while the iMac could pull off an external enclosure unpublished. Less certainty, however, the MacBook Air 12-inch Retina display with alternative lines and Book Air designed with an architecture aimed at reducing the power consumption, long overdue but still in the drawer.

With this roundup of news follows the recent debut of the Watch – product first novel after three years of stagnation – and the usual record sales of the iPhone (models 6:06 Plus had exceeded ten million in the opening weekend alone, confined to a more eight countries), Apple officially enters the new era.
