To unsubscribe from the internet in a click: Deseat.to me, the site that does the cleaning of our profiles online – Corriere della Sera

Including forums, newsletters and subscription services, every day we receive hundreds of emails useless. Our name then continues to turn within the services to which we were only enrolled for a trial or to which we had joined so many years ago that not even remember them the most. The result is a garbage digital equivalent to the inappropriate calls of the call center, dozens and dozens of letters that we don’t want to but we don’t know how to stop. Opt-out individually from each of the services can take days but now a site, there is help: Deseat.me.

Made in Sweden

Designed by the swedes Wille Dahlbo and Linus Unnebäck, is designed to “clean up our online presence,” as the authors say themselves. The service allows you to see all of the sites in which we have an account and then cancellarci permanently. The major advantage is the simplicity. Just enter the website, put your email address and the password for access to the long list of services to which we are members. Deseat.me can find things that we totally lost track and, via a user interface clean and clear, allows us to choose if cancellarci or less from the service with a click. The item “keep” will keep the subscription to this site or the newsletter, the “add to delete queue” will start the cancellation process is so automatic and we will not have to do anything else.

Only with gmail

as the authors say, Deseat.me is secure because it runs directly on the user’s computer and not on their server. The email and password that we therefore will not be in the hands of the bad guys: let’s not forget that the first cause of intrusion in our digital life is phishing, the insertion of our data to malicious sites that record and use it for their own purposes. “In practice, the only thing we’re saying is which account do you want to delete”, they say Dahlbo and Unnebäck, the service then leverages the security protocol that Google does not allow developers to have access to the data of the users. For this reason, however, at the time Deseat.it works for me only with the account of Gmail, the mail service of Big G. The services to which we signed with the other account does not appear on the list and we will have to delete them one by one. But in the end, if you do not remember them, we don’t even have a valid reason for cancellarci from them.
