Say “goodbye” to the novel to comic Overwatch – Smartworld

Giorgio Palmieri … or, maybe, goodbye?

Four months ago, we reported the happy news of the arrival, scheduled for 2017, a novel and a comic dedicated to the well-known, as well as beloved Overwatch, the shooter teams according to Blizzard available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Unfortunately, the project has been deleted. The reasons for which will not see the light are enclosed in a message of the writer of Overwatch, Michael Chu, present on the forum of the colossus of Irvine, which we have translated for you:

I Wanted to let you know that we have decided to cancel the release of the graphic novel Overwatch: First Strike. While we are grateful to the team for the fantastic work done so far, in the last analysis, we have decided to change direction. [...]

The original idea for the graphic novel dates back to the early days of the development of the game and came out of our desire to tell the story of the founding of the organization of Overwatch during the Crisis Omnic. In the following years the concept of First Strike, we have developed the universe and its stories. Accordingly, the core of the story, yes, remains the same, but we’ve expanded and changed the events that took place during the early days of Overwatch. [...]

Blizzard, however, has assured that the story of the origins sooner or later you will be told, but in a way that, at least for now, we are not allowed to know. Frankly we are not worried even a little for this abrupt change of course, given the ability of the narrative of the company: the wait will certainly be rewarded.
