Schools made with recycled plastic bottles here is the project EcoBricks – CorriereUniv.it

More than 60 schools built in the last 69 months, entire communities involved, recycling as part of the education system here is the project designed EcoBrick dall’ambientalista Susan Heisse and association Hug it Forward, Guatemala and ready to be exported all over the world.

The idea is simple: reuse waste inorganic, environmental plague in regions where the climate balance is constantly at risk , to create buildings used as schools. In particular, the project EcoBricks, uses the plastic bottles and makes real brick ready with which to build the classrooms. Bottles, untreated, are filled with inorganic waste, then inserted in the space between the walls so as to provide the structure and isolation environments.

But what is most striking about this project the manner in which the entire community is involved: children fill bottles and carry lighter materials on the construction site; the great work the foundation and steel structures. All are taught techniques for recycling and built for any type of building, including those dedicated to the poor (the cost of classrooms built with the project EcoBricks is about 6,500 Euros each).

” schools of bottle are much cheaper to build than traditional schools, keep the environment clean, have good teaching on environmental sustainability, and involve the entire community for their construction, resulting in a sense of pride and ownership ” , says the website of Hug it Forward.

Below you can see a video of how a school made of EcoBricks be built. All information on the project can be found on the website of Hug it Forward.
