New York could be submerged in less than two centuries – VEB

We have seen cities submerged only in apocalyptic films or science fiction, or we have read in the books of science as reality of millions of years ago, and yet we may find ourselves struggling with our city under water very soon, because of the enormous damage and then changes we have made to the environment and the ecosystem around.

The alarm was launched by the organization Climate Central in a study that took into account data on global warming published in the journal Science: if global temperatures will mention not to decrease , in less than 200 years, the Big Apple could be submerged by the waters.

New York as Atlantis in short: the areas most at risk will be the southern part of Manhattan, Williamsburg (Brooklyn), Long Island City (Queens ), much of the Bronx and Staten Island Island together with all other islands of the Bay of Manhattan, including the one where the Statue of Liberty.

In addition, in less than two centuries could be submerged and also the areas of the three major airports in New York: JFK, Newark and La Guardia. While Coney Island would become a heap of sand.

Millions of people would then be forced to gradually abandon areas today heavily overcrowded, with consequences that perhaps it is difficult to even imagine.
