Science Festival 2016, Einstein protagonist in Rome – The Messenger

“The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is comprehensible.” Are the words of Albert Einstein in the background at the eleventh edition of the Festival of Science, held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica May 20 to 22. A hundred years after the publication of his most famous theory, that on general relativity, the festival, produced by Fondazione Musica per Roma, directed by Vittorio Bo and Jacopo Romans with the collaboration of the physicist Giovanni Amelino Camelia, celebrates the German scientist with agenda that is outside dall’aneddotica petty – it is not true that went wrong in mathematics – to deepen the detective work underlying the relativistic discoveries.

Conference, keynote, worshop and even live shows, with special attention to the constellation of theories linked to relativity, confirmed last year by the discovery of gravitational waves, and an eye to the disclosure to students, who have dedicated a series of meetings that start on May 20 with the proiezion of “Interstellar” films and commentary by Matthew De Giuli Radio3 Science, partner of the event.

“We have introduced several innovations – says the managing director of Music for Rome Foundation José Ramón Dosal during the press conference – alongside the conferences of the dialogues, the keynote, there is a calendar of events Auditorium family program, which complements the great Festival to engage children and families, the discovery of new worlds, in a fun and spectacular. ” Like when, Saturday, May 21, Patrizio Roversi, along with the National Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics Fernando Ferroni, will conduct a ‘conference-performance’ along with cartoonist Luca Ralli, the pianist Umberto Petrin and physics professors Antonio Masiero and Viviana Fafone.

“the last edition, dedicated al’ignoto has had more than 20,000 visitors – said during a press conference the president of the Fondazione Musica per Roma Aurelio Regina – and we can calculate that during the days of the Science Festival we had more than 200 thousand visitors. This year we move from the unknown to relativity, a hundred years after the publication of a theory that revolutionized our

It is the co-director of the Festival, Vittorio Bo, to present the parterre of guests International, Joao Magueijo, Imperial College London, Elena April Columbia University Scott Hughes, Seth Lloyd of MIT and David Kaiser and Ned Markosian University of Massachusetts, protagonists of keynote focused on how, time space, relativity and gravitational waves:

“We face a giant theme – concludes Bo – a revolution in the revolutions. We will touch the issues related to the work of Einstein and his thought. ”
