Christmas: a time for gifts, trees and lights. Lots of lights. They do shine cities and homes throughout the holiday season. And that, unfortunately, would cause many problems for Wi-Fi connections. At least according to what is claimed by OFCOM, the independent regulatory authority and to the communication companies in the United Kingdom. According to a research institution, in fact, the decorations on classic luminaries firs, through especially harmful interference caused by the often rough circuit bulbs, would lead to considerable slowdown in the wireless lines of homes and offices.
To compensate for the grain, consequently, the concentration of metal in the tree, which would act as a wall against radio waves, and the presence of household appliances, as well, the authority has invented a very intuitive app by name: it is called “Wi-Fi Checker” and is designed to monitor and measure the performance of networks.
Available for operating systems iOS and Android, the app will allow a quick check of the quality of the connection, and providing instructions and suggesting solutions – moving the router , if very close to the plant, is one of the most popular – to improve it. Even in the absence of disruptions, a well-known trouble, it seems, by the British: to feel the Ofcom, in fact, there are about 6 thousand lines of public and private structures that do not run as they should.
