Salvatore Aranzulla deleted from Wikipedia: the “master Manzi” informatics considered not encyclopedic – The Messenger

Salvatore Aranzulla deleted from Wikipedia. Look under the heading: “Paradoxes digital age.” That’s right: the IT blogger who dispensed advice throughout Italy on how to solve different problems with computers and smartphones has been removed from the encyclopaedia for technological excellence.

How is it possible? According to the managers of the Wikipedia community, the “Savior Aranzulla” would not encyclopedic relevance. To herald this decision had been the same Aranzulla, who last May 23, from his Facebook profile to more than 340,000 “likes”, he wrote: “Dear friends, I only say that the low competitors league rosiconi are proposing the elimination of my voice from Wikipedia. ” And then, a few days ago, the entry in question, after a long online debate among administrators of the encyclopedia, has been effectively canceled.

In Wikipedia works like this: when one of the directors, with a procedure “buroratica”, proposes to delete or edit an entry, all the main administrators are called upon to decide, not after being confronted in a special forum on the platform. In the end the proposal is put to the vote and if the majority agrees the entry is deleted. In the case of Aranzulla, the thesis that became part of the Wikipedian community it is that the blogger could not be considered disclosure, given the simplicity of the topics covered. It matters little that, for the majority of users who click on Aranzulla.it (active since 2002, is among the 25 most visited sites in Italy every month and has a 40 percent market share in technology), that information does not they are not at all obvious. In short, it is like saying that the master Manzi did not disclosure as in the Italian TV taught basic rules.

Not to mention that Aranzulla has published several computer books, selling more than 15,000 copies in Italy and that intervenes almost daily on television, radio broadcasts, conferences and universities.

Needless to say, on social networks has sparked an uproar, which put at the center of the decision-making dynamics of Wikipedia, which calls itself “free encyclopedia”. Beyond the dispute over Aranzulla (for which however the presence of Wikipedia does not affect either the results of the site in terms of visits), it should be noted that on Wikipedia appear in fact rumors of celebrities as participants in reality shows and tronisti, only by virtue of their fame (which is often fleeting). Which shows a clear flaw, or to use a term dear to information, a “bug” in the encyclopedic bureaucracy, whose rules have remained almost unchanged for over ten years and that in some circumstances proves quite unsuitable.
