Pi Zero, micro computer Raspberry $ 5 – PianetaCellulare.it

Over the years, the Raspberry Pi Foundation has allowed universities and hobbyists to create their own computing projects DIY with its electronic boards for mini computers at affordable prices. The company has now introduced a new product, called Raspberry Pi Zero , which costs only $ 5 (4.70 euro), and is equipped with a Broadcom processor, 0,5GB of RAM, ports mini -HDMI and micro-USB and much more.

For those unfamiliar with the kind of product, Raspberry Pi is a computer implemented on a single electronic card developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The launch to the public took place at the end of February 2012 and to date have been made five versions – are with the new Pi Zero – with prices from 20 to 35 US dollars. The basic idea is the realization of an economical device, designed to stimulate the basic teaching of computer technology and programming in schools. The project Raspberry Pi at the base has a Broadcom chipset that incorporates a processor, GPU, and RAM, and does not provide hard disk or solid state drives, instead relying on an SD card to boot and for the non-volatile memory.

The new Zero Raspberry Pi $ 5 is powered by a Broadcom BCM2835 processor (1GHz ARM11 core), 512 MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, a mini-HDMI socket supporrto with 1080p video at 60 frames per second, took micro-USB and a design similar to the previous mini-computer Raspberry Pi.

The company says that the moello Pi Zero can handle heavy jobs, despite its small size 65 mm x 30 mm – the card is smaller than a credit card and an estimated rate of 40 percent faster than the first Raspberry Pi.

Raspberry Pi runs the Zero platform Raspbian , a version of Linux that is optimized for Raspberry Pi, and applications like Scratch, Minecraft and Sonic Pi.

The gadget does not include USB ports or Ethernet standard size, so you have to buy an externally powered USB hub to connect peripherals.

Raspberry Pi Zero is already on sale in the UK and in the US at retailers where previous models were on sale.

In the video below you can see the introduction of Raspberry Pi Zero.

A system micro-computer Raspberry Pi as models or the new 101 Genuine Intel are a great way to help children understand how the technology works, and can also help you get started in the field of computer science or programming.
