Samsung launches Upday, its information service is to challenge Apple News – The Messenger

Not only devices and payments ‘mobile’, the challenge of Samsung in Apple is also played on the front more and more hot news.

The South Korean giant has announced an agreement with the German publisher Axel Springer – one of the largest in Europe – to launch Upday, topical news app that will be available only on phones of Samsung in Europe (Thursday Germany and Poland). Apple News instead debut soon with the launch of the new operating system “mobile” Apple iOS9. The news, it said in a joint statement, they will be packaged in an app called Upday and will be divided into two sections, one with the contents “to know” – specially written by a team of Axel Springer – and the other with suggestions news shown by an algorithm from content publishers to partner with external links.

Upday will be available from September 3 in experimental version, while the full launch is expected to start in 2016 not only in Germany and Poland, but also in other European markets. A spokesman for the publishing group tells the Wall Street Journal that in every European country will be created ad hoc teams in view of the service.
