(ANSA) – Rome, September 7 – A green vortex that the center has an ‘eye’ very similar to that of hurricanes is what show the first images of a storm of auks captured from space, thanks to one of the satellites sentinel of the planet, the Sentinel-2A of the European Space Agency (ESA) launched on June 23, 2015. The storm was triggered algae in the Baltic Sea and it was much more violent than expected. A trigger unusual algae bloom was exceptionally hot, in which the so-called auks blue (or cyanobacteria) are long an environmental threat, along with other serious problems such as pollution and poor oxygenation of deeper water. Designed to study the forests within the European Copernicus program, with these spectacular images the satellite Sentinel 2A has already exceeded expectations. The storm algae shows a detail up to 10 meters and the variations in the density of microalgae color the vortex of different shades of green, yellow and blue. In the highest part of the photo you a ship, which looks like a small white sign, and the turbulence created by its engine draws a black line crossing the green vortex. (ANSA).
