It ‘was discovered a new planet, considered the “neighbor” of the Earth. His name is HD 219134b, rocky planet that is 21 light years with a radius greater than our planet 1.6 times and revolves around one of the only constellation Cassiopeia.
The temperature of the extra planet closest to our Milky Way is glowing and is far from being habitable. To discover it was an international team of researchers which also includes scientists Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) and the University of Padua and the study was published in the prestigious journal Astronomy & amp; Astrophysics.
The director of Tng, Emilio Molinari explained that to identify our next Earth has been “Harps-N, mounted on our Galileo National Telescope (Tng) on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands”, along with the telescope NASA’s Spitzer Space, who works in the infrared wavelengths outside interference sources present in our atmosphere.
Giusi Micela, director of the Astronomical Observatory of INAF Palermo, explains that although uninhabitable the discovery of this new planet “still opens exciting prospects for studying the atmosphere in the near future.” It is not the only discovery: the planet HD 219134b would belong to a planetary system consisting of three planets that scientists are going to study.
