ROME – Alarm for a billion cellular Android. A bug in a simple MMS can put them in danger. All because of a flaw in the operating system, discovered by security company Zimperium.
It’s called Stagefright and is a bug that allows hackers to get hold of user data, using the preview of multimedia content that takes place without the user’s control. The victim does not even have to open the message, just simply sending to infect devices.
Joshua Drake, vice president of Zimperium says that the alarm about the 95% of Android devices (smartphones and tablets), about 950 million. A risk all the Android versions from 2.2 onward.
