13:01 – E ‘elastic, it looks like a ball and you can eat. It’s called Ooho the “bottle” water that has won the most innovative Lexus Design Award 2014 . The invention – developed by Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez, Pierre and Guillaume Paslier Couche – could revolutionize the packaging of liquids, making it more environmentally friendly by freeing us from PET bottles.

Without algae – The innovative packaging is made from a gelatinous membrane of algae, which can be eaten safely once finished its purpose, or becoming a common organic waste. In order to develop Ooho young designers were inspired by the eggs where a thin membrane keeps separate the yolks from clear.

Soon Trade – The bottle has been designed using the edible Spherification, a culinary technique that gives the liquid form of spheres and allowed students to enclose the water in a double membrane, whose innermost layer is created from brown algae and calcium chloride.

At the moment Ooho, although edible, it does not taste particularly pleasant. The designers are hoping, however, to improve the product and bring it soon on the supermarket shelves.
